Layoffs are on the flight plan for Canadian North.
Approximately 15 of it's 737 pilots will be out of a job. Steven Bard, chairperson of the Canadian North Master Executive Council said the layoffs were necessary as the company has seen a drop in passengers flying. The main reasons for the drop in passenger travel can be attributed to the transfer of Montreal to Kuujjuag route to Air Inuit and the end of the LNG project in Kitimat, BC. Canadian North and it's employee union are currently in talks to hammer out it's next contract.
