The Boeing E-4B 'Nightwatch', often referred to as the 'Doomsday plane', undertook a clandestine flight from Louisiana to Maryland on June 17, 2025. The E-4B functions as an airborne command center for high-ranking officials during crises, specifically engineered to withstand a nuclear attack and manage military operations. This particular flight lasted 4 hours and used an unprecedented callsign, ORDER01. Typically identified as ORDER06, it is one of four E-4Bs that conduct regular flights throughout the year to ensure military readiness.

The plane is equipped with specialized technology, enabling communication with anyone globally and providing support to analysts and strategists during flights. E-4Bs are outfitted with 67 satellite dishes and antennas within the ray dome. These doomsday planes feature three decks, which include a command room, conference room, briefing room, teamwork area, communications room, and a designated rest area with 18 bunks. They have been airborne and operational for up to 35.4 hours in one stretch, although they are designed to function in-flight for an entire week without landing. Additionally, the E-4B can refuel while in the air.
