On May 12, 2022 a Tibet Airlines, 10 year old Airbus A319, registration B-6426 skidded off the runway following an aborted take off in Chongqing in southwest China. Shortly after veering off the runway the aircraft caught fire with plumes of black smoke flying high into the air.
122 people were on board. All 113 passengers and 9 crew members were evacuated safely and 40 people were taken to hospital with non life threatening injuries.
The incident is currently under investigation with no information as to why the take-off was aborted. The aircraft is considered to be a total loss.
